Christmas, as a traditional Western Festival, is a great opportunity for students to learn about Western Culture and enhance their interest in learning English. To provide our students with a practical English learning environment, for Christmas this year we held the ‘”Chinese and Foreign Culture Contest”. We believe by holding this event we will provide our kids with a great opportunity to apply what they have learned in class to some practical circumstances, and this will encourage them to explore more about foreign cultures. Most importantly, their English learning skills and capabilities in applying what they have learned to daily life will be greatly improved.

This event consists of four parts: the Chinese and Foreign Culture Contest, Drama show, Talent show and  Prize-awarding Ceremony. Everyone was excited and showed their best knowledge of English.

圣誕節(jié)是西方的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日，是讓孩子們體驗西方文化、提高英語學(xué)習(xí)興趣的好機會。為了給孩子們創(chuàng)造體驗式的英語學(xué)習(xí)情境，激發(fā)孩子們對不同文化的探索欲望，提高英語學(xué)習(xí)、應(yīng)用能力，近日，聚龍國際部舉辦了“中外文化知識競賽”。

本次活動不僅有知識搶答競賽、還有戲劇表演、才藝展示和頒獎儀式。孩子們各個都鼓足了勁，激動不已，盡展自己的英語才華！

Part One--Chinese and Foreign Culture Contest

第一部分——中外文化知識競賽

Altogether there were two rounds: indivudual quiz and team quiz.

In the first round, we selected the participants randomly by using a computer software, the students chosen had to run to the microphone as fast as they could in order to get the chance to anwser the question. Then they had to give the answer within a limited time. The Grade that got a higher score would win. Everyone was excited and crazy about this!

中外文化知識競賽分為搶答題和拓展題兩個環(huán)節(jié)。

在搶答題環(huán)節(jié)，每個班級采取搖號的方式隨機選取同學(xué)上臺參與比賽，孩子們需要用最快的速度搶到話筒獲取答題權(quán)，并且在規(guī)定的時間內(nèi)完成答題，最終由答題正確次數(shù)最多的小組獲勝。不論是臺上還是臺下的孩子們都超級激動，為了班級的榮譽而戰(zhàn)！我們玩的就是心跳！ 

In the second round, the students had to work as a team and brainstorm to answer a variety of questions. It was not only a test on how much they know about foreign cultures but also a test on how fast they can react under certain circumstance. Most importantly, it shows how well they can work in a team.    

在知識競賽的拓展題環(huán)節(jié)，孩子們需要通過小組配合，運用平時積累的中外文化知識作答。這不僅是一場文化知識積累的英語競賽，更是對孩子們反應(yīng)能力、思維能力和團隊協(xié)作能力的考驗。（圖3）

All participants were trying their best, excited and focused. The audience were even calling out their names, which added up a more tensive atmosphere.

臺上的選手牟足了勁，急中生智，臺下同學(xué)也毫不遜色！緊張激烈的氛圍點燃了全場觀賽同學(xué)的熱情！

Part Two--Drama and Talent Show

第二部分——國際部英語戲劇及才藝表演

In this part we enjoyed the fabulous English Drama, fantastic singing, passionate English speech, graceful Yoga, classic guiter, and even the students from garde one brought us a vivid story and excellent dance. Thanks to these lovely angels we had the best time ever!

才藝表演環(huán)節(jié)不僅有精彩絕倫的全英文戲劇表演，悅耳動聽的歌曲，慷慨激昂的英語演講，優(yōu)雅婀娜的瑜伽，古典嫻熟的吉他彈唱，還有一年級小朋友繪聲繪色的英文故事和動感十足的舞蹈?，F(xiàn)場的每位老師和同學(xué)都沉浸在了這幸福而快樂的圣誕氛圍中。

Part three--Prize-awarding Ceremony

第三部分——頒獎環(huán)節(jié)

Then there came the most exciting part! We were all eager to know who would win the contest after seeing such a furious competition. Now it is time we gave a big hand to the winners and the Grade who showed the best discipline during the whole event!

經(jīng)過一輪又一輪的緊張角逐，頒獎環(huán)節(jié)讓孩子們無比期待！讓我們來揭曉在中外文化知識競賽中獲勝以及榮獲道德風(fēng)尚獎的班級吧！掌聲送給以下獲獎班級～

In the witness of all teachers and students in our department, our foreign teachers announced the names of students who are recognized as the Student of the Semester and the Most Improved Student. Congratulations to all of them! Learning is a life-long business, we have the confidence that our students will make continuous progress through everyday study.

最后，在國際部全體師生的見證下，外教們還為本學(xué)期課堂積分表現(xiàn)優(yōu)異和進步大的同學(xué)頒發(fā)了獎狀！希望同學(xué)們永遠懷著一顆向前奔跑的心，不斷突破自我！

It’s no doubt that this event is a great success, in which the students demonstrated a global mindset and an excellent teamwork. Hope our students enjoy and improve from every single experience the future holds for us .
